Morocco’s three major telecom operators — Maroc Telecom, Orange Maroc, and inwi — have jointly launched the nation’s first 5G network, marking a historic milestone in the country’s digital transformation. With speeds surpassing 2 Gbps, the rollout begins in key cities just weeks before the Africa Cup of Nations, setting the stage for widespread next-generation connectivity.
The 5G launch reinforces Morocco’s ambition to become a regional digital economy leader, supporting high-speed innovation in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, education, and entertainment. All compatible smartphones and SIM cards will automatically connect to the new network, while new prepaid and postpaid 5G plans are being introduced.
inwi confirmed that 5G access is immediately available to all its mobile customers at no extra cost, alongside the launch of its 5G i-Box for ultra-fast home Wi-Fi. Orange Maroc highlighted 5G’s ability to enhance everyday life through smart homes, telemedicine, immersive training, and advanced digital services for businesses, while enabling real-time collaboration and automation under Industry 4.0.
The introduction of 5G is more than a technological leap — it is the backbone of Morocco’s digital future, expected to drive economic growth, empower innovation, and foster inclusive national development.
