ABB has opened a major AI- and digital-solutions training facility in the UAE, strengthening the region’s engineering capabilities and supporting the Middle East’s accelerating energy transition. The new ABB Customer Experience Center, located in Dubai’s Al Quoz Industrial Area, will serve as a regional hub for advanced electrification technologies and digital energy-management tools.
Valued at $2 million, the 2,500 sq m center features a state-of-the-art workshop, lecture theater and collaborative learning areas. It is designed to train around 2,000 engineers and technicians annually from across the Middle East, with a focus on medium- and low-voltage innovations, digital asset management, AI-enabled predictive maintenance, and industrial power systems.
Marco Tellarini, Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East & Africa at ABB Electrification Service, highlighted the sector’s skills gap as veteran technicians retire. He emphasized the need to build expertise in remote monitoring, data-driven asset management, and predictive operations to ensure long-term energy resilience.
With the UAE’s electricity demand expected to grow up to 4% annually through 2035, driven by urbanization, industrial expansion and transport electrification, the facility aims to accelerate adoption of technologies that enhance reliability, reduce operational costs, and support national net-zero goals.
The new center will also help modernize data centers, utilities, and smart industrial, residential and commercial buildings, ensuring the UAE remains at the forefront of digital transformation and sustainable energy leadership across the region.
