Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on railway training cooperation during the fourth meeting of the Bahrain–Saudi Coordination Council, chaired by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The agreement was signed by Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment, Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Falih.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed highlighted that the MoU aligns with the shared vision of both nations to enhance human capacities and advance regional transport systems—particularly the rapidly growing railway sector. The partnership will enable Bahrain to benefit from specialised training programmes delivered by the Saudi Railway Polytechnic (SRP), leveraging its expertise in railway operations, maintenance, and systems management.
He added that the cooperation strengthens technical and knowledge exchange between the two countries and supports the ambitions of future railway projects. It also reinforces broader GCC connectivity and integration efforts, reflecting the leadership’s commitment to building strategic partnerships that accelerate transport and logistics development and open new opportunities for innovation.
