Telephone Shilpa Sangstha (TSS) Limited and EDOTCO Bangladesh have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a repair and refurbishment centre dedicated to critical network power components. The signing ceremony was held at the Posts and Telecommunications Division, with TSS Managing Director Dr. Manwar Hossein Malla and EDOTCO Bangladesh Managing Director Sunil Issac formalising the agreement.
Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, speaking as chief guest, said the initiative represents a major advancement in strengthening Bangladesh’s telecom infrastructure. He noted that the new facility will enhance network reliability, reduce reliance on imports, and support the development of skilled local manpower. He added that the effort could eventually enable domestic battery cell manufacturing, saving foreign currency and creating new technological opportunities.
Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Abdun Naser Khan, who chaired the event, emphasised that the partnership aligns with the government’s drive to modernise the telecom support ecosystem. By combining TSS’s industrial capabilities with EDOTCO’s global expertise, he said, the collaboration will benefit not only the telecom sector but also other technology-intensive industries.
Senior officials from the division, along with representatives from TSS and EDOTCO, were also present at the event.
