Kuwait Accelerates Digital Infrastructure Development as Nexus 2025 Showcases New Technologies

Kuwait’s Minister of State for Communication Affairs, Omar Al-Omar, affirmed that the country is intensifying efforts to strengthen its digital infrastructure through projects aimed at improving technological systems, operational efficiency, and the adoption of digital tools across government entities. Speaking at the Nexus 2025 exhibition, he highlighted Kuwait’s national strategy to elevate public services, enhance user experience, and advance digital integration.

Al-Omar credited strong political leadership for supporting digital ecosystem growth, including clear data-management frameworks, strengthened public–private partnerships, and initiatives to build national talent in programming, data science, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. He stressed that equipping local talent with advanced skills is essential to improving operational performance and service quality.

He added that Nexus 2025 reflects Kuwait’s commitment to innovation, aligning with Kuwait Vision 2035 to build a diversified, knowledge-based economy. The event serves as a platform for emerging technologies, collaboration, and investment opportunities—reinforcing Kuwait’s regional and global digital standing.

The exhibition brings together government bodies, major technology firms, SMEs, and youth-driven projects. It features AI, cybersecurity, fintech, and health-tech sessions, as well as 65 companies, 20 startups, and student innovations from local universities. A KD 10,000 startup competition enables entrepreneurs to pitch ideas to over 100 investors.

Basma Al-Jassem of the National Fund for SME Development said Kuwait is working to create a supportive environment for small businesses to grow sustainably, noting the global importance of SMEs for GDP and employment. CITRA’s Amer Hayat highlighted strong telecom readiness, nationwide 5G coverage exceeding 95%, and a national project mapping network quality across 15,000 km—placing Kuwait among the world’s best in digital service delivery.
