Bangladesh has introduced a new digital system to electronically track cargo trucks entering the country from India, marking a major step in modernising customs operations and strengthening border controls. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has launched a “Truck Movement” sub-module under the ASYCUDA World platform to digitally record the entry of trucks carrying imported goods and the exit of empty vehicles.
Previously managed through manual processes, the new system enables customs officials to capture detailed information on vehicle arrivals and departures, track the duration of stays, and monitor truck movements in real time. The digital module was piloted at Benapole Customs House, Bangladesh’s largest land port, on December 15, 2025.
Following the pilot’s results, the NBR plans to roll out the system across all land ports in the coming months. Officials say the platform will improve data accuracy, reduce revenue leakage, enhance transparency and accountability, and strengthen border security through real-time visibility of truck movements. The nationwide deployment is expected to streamline customs administration and support smoother cross-border trade through greater automation and oversight.
