OCCI Forum Hosts CEOs of Omani Tech and Telecom Startups

The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) hosted the second CEOs’ Forum for technology and telecommunications startups in Muscat on December 23, under the patronage of Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority. The forum brought together senior government officials, startup CEOs, and digital economy experts to support the growth of Oman’s technology sector and advance a knowledge-based economy.

Shaikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI’s Board, said the digital economy has become a fundamental pillar for diversifying income sources and enhancing private sector competitiveness. He stressed that digital transformation is no longer optional, but essential for building a globally competitive economy and empowering Omani youth with high-quality opportunities.

Eng Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al Hawsani, OCCI Board Member and Chairman of the Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence Committee, highlighted the importance of direct dialogue between industry leaders and policymakers to strengthen Oman’s national technology ecosystem. He noted that the forum reflects national priorities set by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to accelerate digital transformation, invest in AI, and foster innovation-led economic diversification.

The forum featured two expert papers focused on artificial intelligence, addressing its impact on intellectual property models, economic transformation, and leadership in the AI era. Panel discussions explored the role of technology companies in accelerating digital services, developing innovative solutions, and shaping leadership perspectives amid rapid technological change.

A parallel startup showcase allowed Omani companies to present innovative technology projects, highlighting the growing dynamism of the Sultanate’s startup ecosystem and its contribution to national development goals.
