Oman Broadband Company plans to connect one million residential units to its fiber-optic network over the next three years, reinforcing the Sultanate’s core digital infrastructure and expanding access to high-quality digital services. The announcement was made by Sultan Ahmed Al Wahibi, CEO of Oman Broadband, in a statement to the Oman News Agency.
By the end of November 2025, the company’s fiber network had reached 926,884 residential units across Oman, including 415,792 units in Muscat Governorate and 511,092 units in other governorates. Active subscribers rose to 326,406, surpassing the 320,000 mark for the first time since the company’s establishment.
Al Wahibi said network coverage in Muscat now exceeds 87 percent of residential units, while coverage outside Muscat stands at approximately 56 percent nationwide. The company’s strategy focuses on further expanding fiber coverage, investing in core infrastructure, and strengthening partnerships to achieve the one-million-home target.
Oman Broadband is also developing digital infrastructure in Sultan Haitham City, Al Khuwair Downtown, and the A’Thuraya City project, aligned with smart city standards. These developments are designed to support future expansion and deliver high-speed connectivity to residential areas, commercial facilities, educational institutions, and government services.
Since its establishment in 2014, Oman Broadband’s total investments and movable assets have exceeded RO327 million. Network expansion in 2025 included the wilayats of Bukha and Dibba in Musandam Governorate, complementing earlier coverage in Khasab and Madha, alongside deployments across other parts of the Sultanate.
Al Wahibi noted that Oman Broadband’s Omanisation rate exceeds 99 percent, with 39 percent of project work awarded to small and medium enterprises. The company has also implemented initiatives to help SMEs qualify for larger projects and international certifications, while continuing community investments in education, health, sports, and youth development.
