Batelco by Beyon has signed a strategic partnership with Bahrain-based Qareeb Data Centers to launch what is being positioned as Bahrain’s first edge data centre, strengthening the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure and edge computing capabilities.
Under the agreement, Qareeb will manage and operate its first edge facility through a long-term lease of Batelco’s recently announced White Space Data Centre. The site offers 6,000 square metres within Beyon’s 140,000-square-metre Data Oasis in Southern Bahrain.
Batelco’s Chief Global Business Officer, Hani Askar, said the agreement marks the project’s shift from construction to operational readiness, translating Batelco’s data centre strategy into real-world delivery and expanding its reach across key market segments.
Qareeb’s Chief Revenue Officer, Annemarie Van Zadelhoff, said the facility will enable the delivery of sovereign, low-latency, and AI-ready colocation services for enterprises, cloud providers, and digital platforms across the GCC. She described the project as Qareeb’s first operational data centre and a major milestone in delivering scalable, high-performance edge infrastructure across the Middle East.
The edge facility is designed to support next-generation cloud and artificial intelligence workloads, positioning Bahrain as a regional hub for sovereign, high-performance digital infrastructure while enabling enterprises to deploy latency-sensitive applications with confidence.
