MANAMA — Bahrain’s Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) has organised a workshop to introduce its Geospatial Data Platform (Geoportal), highlighting its digital services, geospatial products, and role in supporting government decision-making and national development initiatives.
The workshop focused on demonstrating how the platform enables government entities to access and exchange geospatial data more efficiently, supporting data-driven planning and improving coordination across development sectors. Officials noted that the initiative forms part of Bahrain’s broader digital transformation efforts, aimed at strengthening data integration and aligning with international land management standards.
SLRB President Basem bin Yaqoub Al Hamar said the platform and accompanying awareness and training programmes are key to building national capabilities and advancing an integrated government ecosystem. He added that the initiative supports sustainable development goals by enhancing operational efficiency and enabling informed strategic decisions.
The session included live demonstrations of the Geoportal’s tools and datasets, showcasing practical applications linked to major national projects. Strong engagement from participants reflected growing interest in expanding the use of geospatial data across government operations.
The geospatial platform is designed as an integrated digital system that standardises geospatial data exchange among relevant entities, providing broader access to accurate information and supporting Bahrain’s ongoing efforts toward digital transformation and smarter governance.
