India is set to host the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi from February 16 to 20, bringing together global political leaders, technology executives, and policymakers for one of the largest international gatherings focused on artificial intelligence. The event, hosted at Bharat Mandapam, marks the first global AI summit of its scale to be held in the Global South, reflecting India’s ambition to shape an inclusive and responsible AI future.

The summit will feature participation from heads of state and government, including leaders from France, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, and several European and Asian nations, alongside the UN Secretary-General and ministerial delegations from more than 45 countries. The gathering aims to strengthen international cooperation on AI governance, innovation, and responsible technology deployment.

Major technology companies and industry leaders are also expected to play a central role, with a large delegation from the United States comprising more than 120 senior executives from over 100 companies. Discussions are expected to focus on collaboration across AI infrastructure, trusted technologies, quantum computing, and emerging digital ecosystems.

At the heart of the summit is India’s push for sovereign AI development under the IndiaAI Mission. The country plans to showcase 12 indigenous foundation models developed by local startups and research institutions, designed to support multilingual applications across India’s diverse linguistic landscape. The AI Impact Expo will highlight practical AI use cases across sectors including agriculture, healthcare, education, and governance.

The summit agenda is structured around themes of People, Planet, and Progress, emphasizing skills development, sustainable AI practices, trusted governance, and economic inclusion. Working groups are expected to produce policy recommendations aimed at advancing shared AI infrastructure, public AI resources, and collaborative innovation frameworks for developing economies.

The event underscores India’s growing influence in the global AI ecosystem, positioning the country as a bridge between technological innovation and real-world impact while promoting ethical and inclusive AI development.
