Manama – February 18, 2026: stc Bahrain has announced the successful delivery of a strategic connectivity project for the NBH (Nasser bin Hamad) Loop, in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
The 50-kilometre cycling track in Zallaq, officially inaugurated by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, is the longest dedicated cycling path of its kind in Bahrain. Designed to international standards, the NBH Loop promotes healthy living and offers a safe, car-free environment for cycling, walking, and running. The facility also includes amenities such as bike rental services, positioning it as a flagship destination for active lifestyles.
As part of the project, stc Bahrain provided secure private connectivity and Internet of Things solutions to power SOS emergency stations installed along the cycling route. The connectivity is supported by stc’s advanced 5G network, enabling seamless communication and rapid emergency response capabilities.
The initiative reflects stc Bahrain’s role in delivering secure and resilient digital infrastructure for national development projects. It also supports Bahrain’s broader smart city ambitions by enhancing public safety through connected technologies.
Officials from the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports highlighted that the partnership aligns with efforts to develop integrated sports infrastructure in line with international standards. The NBH Loop is positioned as a key project aimed at encouraging sports participation, promoting healthier lifestyles, and contributing to community wellbeing.
stc Business leadership emphasised that enabling SOS stations with IoT-driven connectivity strengthens safety measures for all users of the track, reinforcing the Kingdom’s vision for smart, technology-enabled public infrastructure.
