Ericsson and Specialized by stc sign MoU to advance mission-critical connectivity for public safety

RIYADH: Ericsson and specialized by stc have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the World Defense Show in Riyadh to accelerate the development of advanced mission-critical communication capabilities supporting Saudi Arabia’s national public-safety ecosystem.

The partnership combines specialized by stc’s nationwide digital infrastructure with Ericsson’s expertise in secure and high-availability networks. The collaboration aims to enhance operational efficiency for first responders, including police, ambulance, civil protection and emergency management teams.

Under the MoU, the two companies will work on enabling reliable, real-time communication tools such as mission-critical push-to-talk and push-to-video services, AI-driven incident analytics and high-precision location services. These capabilities are designed to strengthen coordination and ensure uninterrupted connectivity in high-pressure emergency situations.

The agreement also envisions integrating Internet of Things sensors and smart-vehicle systems into unified communication frameworks. This approach is expected to accelerate emergency response times, improve situational awareness and reinforce community resilience through secure and resilient connectivity.

As part of the collaboration, Ericsson and specialized by stc will conduct joint validation programs and field trials that simulate high-demand emergency scenarios. The trials will assess network performance, reliability and security to ensure readiness for real-world deployment.

Executives from both companies highlighted that the initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 digital transformation agenda, supporting national resilience and enhancing public safety infrastructure across the Kingdom.
