Algeria Launches EU-Backed Agritech Incubator and Accelerator Programme

Algeria’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises has launched a new incubation and acceleration programme for agritech start-ups, aimed at supporting founders developing innovative agricultural technologies.

Announced by the European Union Delegation to Algeria, the initiative is part of the Development of Digital and Green Entrepreneurship project under the InnovAgro component. It is co-financed by Germany and the European Union and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Selected start-ups were chosen from the Agripreneurs Challenge, launched in 2025. These ventures focus on solutions incorporating Internet of Things applications, artificial intelligence, and drone technology to modernize farm operations.

The programme is designed to help entrepreneurs transform research and early-stage ideas into practical tools for agriculture. Key areas of focus include land management, water optimization, crop monitoring, and precision agriculture, with technologies such as drones and satellite data to assess soil moisture and crop health.

This initiative is expected to accelerate the adoption of digital and smart farming practices in Algeria, supporting sustainable growth and innovation in the agricultural sector.
