Minister Reviews Telecom Network Readiness in Kuwait

Kuwait’s Minister of State for Communication Affairs and Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Omar Al-Omar, has emphasized the importance of maintaining stable telecommunications services, describing them as a key pillar of national readiness.

The minister made the remarks during a visit to telecom operator Ooredoo Kuwait, where he reviewed the company’s network preparedness and contingency plans. The visit was part of the government’s ongoing monitoring of the country’s digital infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted telecom services under current exceptional circumstances.

During the inspection, Al-Omar assessed the readiness of operating centers, network infrastructure and emergency response mechanisms designed to maintain service continuity. He stressed that the Ministry of Communications is closely overseeing telecom network performance and ensuring that operators are prepared to address any disruptions.

Ooredoo Kuwait Chief Executive Officer Abdulaziz Al-Babtain said maintaining telecommunications services during challenging situations is both a national and operational responsibility. He noted that telecom networks play a strategic role in supporting national security and stability.

Al-Babtain added that the company’s technical, operational and support teams are working around the clock to ensure network efficiency and service continuity. Ooredoo has also implemented remote working arrangements for non-operational staff to safeguard employees while ensuring uninterrupted services, while field teams remain ready to respond to technical issues immediately.

The minister was also briefed on the company’s real-time monitoring systems, rapid response mechanisms and precautionary operational plans aimed at maintaining uninterrupted connectivity across the country.

In a related meeting attended by the Chairman of the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) Khalid Al-Zamil, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport Mishal Al-Zaid, and representatives from telecom companies, Al-Omar reiterated the need to continuously monitor network performance and strengthen rapid response capabilities.

The meeting focused on reviewing sector-wide emergency preparedness and ensuring that telecommunications services remain stable across Kuwait. The minister also expressed appreciation to telecom operators for providing roaming benefits to Kuwaiti citizens stranded abroad, enabling them to stay connected with their families during the current circumstances.
