Pakistan Concludes Historic 5G Spectrum Auction Raising $510 Million

Pakistan has officially completed its 5G spectrum assignment stage, securing $510 million and paving the way for a digital overhaul. Finalizing positions in the 2600 MHz and 3500 MHz bands, the auction involved the allocation of 480 MHz of spectrum—a move set to triple existing network capacity.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, Shiza Fatima, announced that 5G pilot services are scheduled to launch in major cities as early as next week. Supported by the PTA and the Pakistan Armed Forces, which vacated spectrum for civilian use, this milestone aims to boost average internet speeds from 4 Mbps to 20 Mbps while maintaining affordability for the public.
