Pakistan has officially entered the 5G era, with Jazz and Zong rapidly launching services just days after securing spectrum in the country’s recent 5G auction.
Jazz rolled out 5G across around 180 sites, covering Islamabad, all provincial capitals, and major metropolitan hubs including Lahore, Karachi, and Faisalabad. Backed by the largest spectrum acquisition in the auction, the operator is leveraging multiple bands to accelerate nationwide coverage for its 74 million+ subscribers.
Zong has also gone live commercially, deploying 5G in more than 16 cities, including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar. Meanwhile, Ufone—despite securing significant mid-band spectrum—has yet to launch its services.
The auction saw 480 MHz of spectrum sold across multiple bands, marking a major milestone in Pakistan’s digital infrastructure journey, even as earlier rollout targets faced delays.
