Morocco has connected more than 10,600 areas to high-speed internet as part of its national digital infrastructure expansion plan, reflecting steady progress in improving connectivity and digital inclusion.
The rollout is focused on extending broadband access to underserved and rural regions, where connectivity gaps have historically limited access to digital services. Expanding high-speed internet coverage is expected to support sectors such as education, healthcare, e-government, and digital commerce.
The initiative is part of Morocco’s broader digital transformation strategy, which prioritises infrastructure development as a foundation for economic growth and innovation. Improved connectivity enables greater participation in the digital economy while supporting the adoption of advanced technologies across industries.
Government-led efforts are being complemented by investments from telecom operators and private sector stakeholders, helping accelerate deployment and enhance service quality. The expansion also aligns with Morocco’s ambitions to strengthen its position as a regional technology hub in North Africa.
Despite strong progress, challenges remain around last-mile connectivity, affordability, and network performance, particularly in remote areas.
