Hamilton, Bermuda – The Minister of Economy and Labour, Jason Hayward, has announced the launch of the Bermuda Coders Initiative, a free online digital skills program developed in partnership with the United Arab Emirates. This groundbreaking initiative aims to provide Bermudians with access to world-class education in coding, data science, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.

“This initiative will provide every Bermudian and Bermuda-based learner with free access, through any internet-enabled device, to world-class digital technology courses and certifications,” said Hayward.

The program is offered at no financial cost to the Bermuda government and is facilitated through the UAE’s Government Experience Exchange Office. In return, Bermuda will assist the UAE in the financial services sector.

Developed by Udacity, a global leader in digital education, and Microsoft, the program offers high-quality courses designed to equip participants with in-demand digital skills. This initiative is seen as crucial for preparing Bermudians for the future workforce and ensuring the island’s success in the digital age.

“Emerging technology is, as we speak, changing how we live, work and play, and connect as a society,” added Hayward. “Our ability to harness it will define Bermuda’s future over the next decade and shape the island’s success for generations to come.”

The Bermuda Coders Initiative is available to all Bermudians and Bermuda-based learners with internet access. This accessibility ensures that everyone has the opportunity to develop valuable digital skills, regardless of their background or location.

“This initiative transcends education. It is about empowering every Bermudian with the skills and confidence to thrive in an increasingly digital world,” concluded Hayward.

This partnership between Bermuda and the UAE highlights the importance of international collaboration in promoting digital literacy and skills development. By providing access to free digital education, the Bermuda Coders Initiative is investing in the future of its workforce and positioning the island for success in the global digital economy.
