Rabat, Morocco – Morocco’s Minister Delegate in charge of the National Defence Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi, announced that the kingdom’s security services successfully thwarted 644 cyberattacks in 2024. This information was shared during a meeting with parliamentarians, highlighting Morocco’s proactive approach to cybersecurity.
In response to the escalating threat of cyberattacks, the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) implemented enhanced protection measures to safeguard critical information systems and infrastructure.
“In light of the escalation of threats and the increase in cyber attacks, the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) implemented in 2024 enhanced protection measures for the security of information systems of vitally important bodies and infrastructures,” said Loudiyi.
Of the 644 identified cyberattacks, 134 required direct intervention from the Centre for Vigilance, Monitoring and Response to Information Attacks. To enhance resilience and flexibility, 64 vital electronic and mobile platforms were evaluated and reinforced, and 16 alerts were issued due to critical vulnerabilities.
The DGSSI also issued 1,050 notifications and 575 security bulletins, and conducted 25 interventions in the security operations centers of seven agencies to address immediate threats.
While the source of the cyberattacks was not disclosed, this proactive approach to cybersecurity demonstrates Morocco’s commitment to protecting its critical infrastructure and information systems.
