A workshop aimed at advancing the future of aviation through digital transformation was held at the Civil Aviation Authority Training Centre in Muscat on Tuesday. Organised by CGX AERO, a French company, the event brought together over 50 aviation experts to explore cutting-edge advancements in flight safety and aeronautical information systems.
The workshop sessions focused on the transition from traditional Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) to the more advanced Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) system. Presentations, papers, and case studies highlighted how AIM enhances operational efficiency and safety in the aviation sector. Key topics included the implementation of Electronic Terrain and Obstacle Data, which provides vital information for safer flight planning, and the development of aerodrome mapping databases.
Mohamed Ali Mgalles, Chief Technology Officer and Business Development Director of CGX AERO, emphasized the importance of bridging technological expertise with local needs, stating, “This workshop marks a significant step in modernising Oman’s aviation infrastructure and ensuring safer skies.”
The event is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the country’s aviation safety and operations. Another workshop, focusing on airspace design, will be held on Thursday.
