Appointed in 2020 by the UAE Cabinet as the Head of Cyber Security, Dr. Al Kuwaiti holds multiple influential positions, including Chairman of the UAE Cyber Security Council and Managing Director of the National Data Centre. All cybersecurity matters in the UAE fall under his jurisdiction, making him a pivotal figure in the nation’s digital security landscape.
Dr. Al Kuwaiti is responsible for developing the UAE’s cybersecurity strategy, aimed at positioning the country as the world’s most trusted digital hub while supporting the digital transformation of the UAE. Under his leadership, the UAE has achieved significant strides, advancing 42 positions in the ITU Global Cybersecurity Index, moving from 47th to 5th place globally.
In addition to his leadership role, Dr. Al Kuwaiti has led the UAE to set Guinness World Records for the largest cyber capture the flag (CTF) competition, the biggest bug bounty competition, and the largest cyber drill. He is also a key figure on various advisory boards, including the UAE Council for Digital Wellbeing and the Federal Geographic Information Center, and holds academic positions at prominent institutions like Rabdan Academy and Khalifa University.
