Oman Data Park Partners with Solar Wadi to Launch Green Energy Data Center Initiative
Muscat – Oman Data Park (ODP), the Sultanate’s leading provider of managed services, cloud solutions, and advanced cybersecurity, has announced a strategic partnership with Solar Wadi to power its data operations with renewable energy. The initiative marks a milestone in Oman’s digital sustainability journey, laying the foundation for the country’s first Green Energy Data Center in alignment with Oman Vision 2040 Net Zero targets.
The project’s first phase will generate 1.4 MW of clean energy, with solar panels installed in the wadi area and on the rooftop of the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) 4 building in Rusayl. A second phase will add another 400 kW through solar infrastructure in the facility’s car park, further strengthening renewable energy integration.
Maqbool Al Wahaibi, CEO of ODP, described the move as a turning point:
“This initiative is more than an infrastructure upgrade; it is a statement of intent about the future of data management in Oman. By integrating large-scale solar power into mission-critical facilities, we are redefining standards for sustainable cloud and data services while ensuring operational reliability.”
Beyond Rusayl, ODP’s upcoming data center in Firq, Nizwa has been designed with solar infrastructure built into its foundation. The state-of-the-art facility will deliver a total power output of 4.4 MW and accommodate over 500 racks, with 350 kW of capacity generated directly from solar power at launch.
This partnership reflects ODP’s commitment to embedding sustainability into its growth roadmap and advancing environmentally responsible, next-generation data services. By adopting renewable energy at scale, ODP not only reduces its carbon footprint but also strengthens Oman’s position in the regional transition toward a green, circular economy.
