The Dubai Electronic Security Centre (DESC) has unveiled the Dubai AI Security Policy during the Dubai AI and Web3 Festival 2024, marking a significant advance in the region’s cybersecurity landscape. This new policy aims to enhance confidence in artificial intelligence technologies, promote their development, and mitigate security risks associated with electronic systems.
The announcement was made at the event, organized by the Dubai AI Campus in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office, and the Dubai International Financial Centre, held at Madinat Jumeirah on September 11-12.
Yousuf Al Shaibani, CEO of DESC, emphasized the policy’s alignment with the UAE’s strategic vision to become a global AI leader by 2031, as outlined in the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. “This policy is a pivotal step in supporting Dubai’s strategic initiatives, particularly the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to double the city’s economy and elevate its status among the top global economic cities over the next decade,” Al Shaibani stated.
Amer Sharaf, CEO of the Cybersecurity Systems and Services Sector at DESC, noted that the policy is an integral addition to Dubai’s suite of innovative cybersecurity measures. It is designed to safeguard AI innovations, enhance public-private collaborations, and attract further AI investments, bolstering Dubai’s role as a prominent AI hub globally.
The festival attracted over 5,000 business leaders, 500 investors, and about 100 exhibitors from around the world, showcasing the latest advancements in AI, Web3, and digital economies. These initiatives underscore DESC’s ongoing efforts to reinforce Dubai’s position as a global center for innovation and economic growth while ensuring a secure and sustainable future.
