A recent survey by Capital.com reveals the UAE is fast becoming a sought-after hub for tech professionals, with 45% of respondents willing to relocate there, surpassing Germany (38%) and Hong Kong (20%). Conducted among 1,000 tech workers from Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and India, the survey highlights the UAE’s burgeoning reputation as a growing tech hub, with 81% viewing it as a favorable tech destination and 76% appreciating its conducive business environment.
Tarik Chebib, CEO of Capital.com in the Middle East, noted the significant shift in preference towards the UAE, attributing it to the region’s robust government support and pro-talent stance which have made it competitive with tech-centric cities like Singapore, the UK, and the US. “The concentrated efforts by the UAE to foster a supportive environment for tech industries are paying off, drawing talent from across Asia and beyond,” said Chebib.
The survey underscored the importance of government support in tech sectors, with 93% of respondents considering it crucial. The UAE’s attractive offerings such as banking, visa options, healthcare, and real estate services for tech professionals were also highlighted as key factors influencing relocation decisions.
As the host of the NextGenFDI initiative, the UAE is positioning itself as a global gateway for innovation, attracting tech companies and professionals with its business-friendly policies and strategic location. Chebib added, “We’ve seen a substantial influx of talent, driven by the UAE’s initiatives to create an optimal environment for tech growth and innovation.”
This trend is mirrored in the company’s own operations, with Capital.com establishing its regional headquarters in Dubai, licensed under the UAE Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA). The move is part of a broader commitment to contributing to the UAE’s tech sector and supporting local talent development initiatives.
The survey, conducted from July 11 to 28, 2024, included equal participation from four Asian countries, highlighting a strong willingness and active interest among tech professionals to relocate for enhancing their careers, particularly to the UAE.
