Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is making a significant impact as a Main Sponsor at the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress 2024, hosted by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). At this premier event for smart mobility systems, DEWA is showcasing its leading green mobility projects, with a spotlight on the Electric Vehicle (EV) Green Charger initiative. This initiative is pivotal in advancing sustainable transportation by providing a top-tier EV charging infrastructure across Dubai.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, highlighted that hosting the ITS World Congress underscores Dubai’s leadership in smart mobility and its commitment to the disruptive technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and Big Data. These technologies are integral to the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030, which aims to enhance electrical technologies and solutions in the transport sector.
Al Tayer also emphasized DEWA’s alignment with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy, which targets expanding the electric vehicle charging network by 2033 as part of broader efforts to meet the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.
Since its inception in 2014, the EV Green Charger initiative has established the first public electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the region. Today, it supports over 700 charging stations, including more than 400 Green Charging Stations operated by DEWA, significantly contributing to the increase of electric vehicles in Dubai, which now exceed 30,000.
During the ITS World Congress, DEWA is also promoting the “EV Green Charger User Dashboard,” a feature that allows registered users to monitor their charging activities and consumption data seamlessly via DEWA’s website or smart app. This dashboard provides detailed records of bill payments, consumption, charging transactions, and allows users to manage multiple EV Green Charger cards and locate the nearest available Green Charger. This initiative not only supports user convenience but also enhances the accessibility and functionality of green mobility solutions in Dubai.
