Bahrain has achieved a remarkable milestone by advancing to 18th place globally in the 2024 UN E-Government Development Index (EGDI), a leap of 36 positions. Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, praised the Kingdom’s progress, attributing this success to the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Al Kaabi highlighted the role of the Ministerial Committee for Information Technology and Communication (MCICT), chaired by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in achieving this global recognition. Bahrain’s 10th place ranking in the Telecommunications Infrastructure Index (TII), an improvement of 55 places from 2022, further underscores the nation’s efforts to strengthen its infrastructure and attract investment. The success of Bahrain’s e-government and telecommunications infrastructure reflects its commitment to comprehensive economic development.
