Pakistan’s IT exports surged to an all-time high of $3.223 billion in fiscal year 2023-24, marking a 24% increase compared to the previous year, according to Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khwaja. Speaking at the HBL-P@SHA ICT Awards 2024, hosted by the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), Khwaja emphasized the government’s goal to boost IT exports to $25 billion in the next five years.
The awards, which celebrate “Made in Pakistan” innovation, recognized companies for their excellence in the IT sector. Khwaja lauded the efforts of P@SHA and HBL for organizing the event, highlighting the awards’ role in showcasing local talent on both regional and global stages, including the prestigious Asia-Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards.
Prominent attendees included government officials, diplomats, top IT industry figures, and startups. Khwaja stressed the critical role of P@SHA in driving innovation and positioning Pakistan’s IT sector on the global map. She congratulated all nominees and winners for setting new standards in technology, adding that their innovation is key to shaping the country’s digital future.
The HBL-P@SHA ICT Awards 2024 recognized 33 Gold Award winners and 47 Merit Award recipients across various categories, such as Consumer, Business Services, Inclusion & Community, and Student Innovation. This year’s event saw an overwhelming 1,198 applications, with top talent identified through 15 judging cycles conducted by industry veterans.
