e& Egypt has entered into a strategic agreement with the National Company for Telecommunication Services (NCTS), an entity under the Ministry of Defense, to provide cutting-edge telecom services using the “Tiba 1” satellite. The signing of the agreement was overseen by Hossam El-Meadawy, CEO of the institutional sector at e& Egypt, and Samy Shedied, chairman and managing director of NCTS.
NCTS is responsible for managing the commercial capacity of the Tiba 1 satellite and holds exclusive authorization from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to operate satellite networks within the Ka-band spectrum. This authorization enables the provision of satellite-based telecom services through the VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) system.
Under the new agreement, e& Egypt will leverage Tiba 1’s capabilities to offer enhanced telecom services, particularly in remote regions with minimal traditional telecom infrastructure. These advanced services are expected to play a crucial role in key industries such as petroleum, mining, and tourism, which often operate in isolated areas.
To ensure high service standards, e& Egypt has already conducted thorough testing in compliance with NTRA regulations. The collaboration will also support major national initiatives like “Mostakbal Masr-Ras El Hekma” by delivering essential telecom services while infrastructure is being developed.
Expressing his satisfaction with the agreement, El-Meadawy highlighted e& Egypt’s achievement in becoming the first company in the country to adopt this pioneering satellite technology, which is set to significantly boost the telecom sector in Egypt.
Established in 2006, e& Egypt is a prominent player in the telecommunications and IT industry, showing robust growth and expansion in the Egyptian market.
