Omantel, the leading provider of telecommunications and ICT services in Oman, has partnered with Optiva to complete one of the most complex real-time rating and charging transformation projects to date. Together, they successfully upgraded and migrated over 200 Omantel products and services across all business lines to Optiva’s convergent charging engine, now hosted on Omantel’s private cloud.
This transformation allows Omantel to implement innovative use cases powered by GenAI and 5G technologies for both consumer and enterprise segments. Optiva’s cloud-native convergent charging solution, which includes real-time rating, charging, and payment capabilities, plays a vital role in Omantel’s strategy to enhance the digital customer experience and deliver cutting-edge services to over three million customers.
By transitioning from a bare-metal deployment to cloud infrastructure, Omantel can now leverage CI/CD pipelines and automation for faster access to new features. Optiva’s Charging Engine also simplifies the integration of new digital partners, improving customer satisfaction and driving revenue growth.
Samy Al Ghassany, Chief Technology and Digital Officer at Omantel, expressed the company’s commitment to delivering innovative services through this transformation, while Optiva’s CEO, Robert Stabile, emphasized the mutual benefits of the cloud-native architecture, enhanced 5G capacity, and GenAI capabilities for Omantel and its customers.
