Ezditek has announced the groundbreaking of its flagship data center, RUH01, which will be located at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Covering 35,000 square meters (376,735 square feet), RUH01 is expected to go live by Q1 2026 and will have a maximum capacity of 24MW.
Riyadh, one of the world’s fastest-growing cities, provides an ideal location for digital transformation, making it a natural hub for Ezditek’s new data center. “Riyadh is the heart of the Kingdom’s rapidly expanding technology sector, and this is the perfect place for our flagship facility,” said Ibrahim Almulhim, CEO of Ezditek. “Breaking ground on RUH01 is a significant milestone in our mission to simplify and support organizations in growing their local presence in the Kingdom.”
The facility will offer rapid connectivity, reaching 90% of the Saudi population within 25 milliseconds, and will host the Saudi Arabian Internet Exchange (SAIE) with speeds exceeding 100Gbps. This is part of Ezditek’s broader effort to support the Kingdom’s vision of becoming a leader in AI and digital infrastructure.
This project follows Ezditek’s joint venture (JV) with Gcore, announced in May 2024, to develop an “AI factory” in Saudi Arabia. The AI factory will focus on building, training, and deploying generative AI solutions. Gcore will bring its cloud-based AI infrastructure expertise, while Ezditek will apply its data center design and construction capabilities.
The AI factory, which will be housed in an Ezditek data center, will feature tens of thousands of GPUs to accelerate AI innovation and adoption in the region. “We are excited to work with Ezditek to build a state-of-the-art AI factory, setting a new standard for AI infrastructure in the region,” said Andre Reitenbach, CEO of Gcore.
Ibrahim Almulhim also expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We’ve collaborated closely with Gcore to identify areas where we can deliver value and support Saudi Arabia’s vision for AI leadership. Together, we are building a purpose-built AI factory that will be key to driving innovation.”
Gcore, a Luxembourg-based Edge AI cloud provider, raised $60 million in a Series A funding round in July 2024. In October 2024, Gcore announced a deal with Telia’s data center in Helsinki to deploy a GPU cluster with over 1MW of compute capacity.
Ezditek had previously announced a partnership with Neom for the development of data centers in the Saudi city, to be operated by ZeroPoint DC. This partnership further reinforces Ezditek’s commitment to shaping the future of AI and data infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
