The Saudi Journalists Association and Dar Alyaum For Media have signed a historic agreement aimed at enhancing human capital in digital media. In collaboration with the University of Missouri, USA, this initiative provides 100 training seats, with 70 designated for newly graduated media students and 30 reserved for employees of press institutions. The program will focus on cutting-edge topics such as artificial intelligence (AI) journalism and the Metaverse.
The agreement was signed at Dar Alyaum’s headquarters in Dammam by Adhwan Al-Ahmari, Chairman of the Saudi Journalists Association, and Alwaleed Al-Mubarak, Chairman of Dar Alyaum For Media. Al-Ahmari highlighted that this initiative, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, demonstrates Saudi journalism’s adaptability to global advancements. The program aims to equip media professionals with the skills to use emerging technologies ethically and professionally. He also emphasized that the initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to foster a digital economy, build a knowledge-based society, empower national talent, and elevate local media content to meet international standards.
Al-Ahmari further noted that this program is a critical step in strengthening the media sector in the Eastern Province and enhancing Saudi Arabia’s position as a global leader in digital media innovation.
Al-Mubarak added that the training program introduces participants to the latest digital media practices, including Metaverse journalism, augmented reality, virtual reality, and AI-driven storytelling. The program also emphasizes the ethical use of these advanced technologies to create responsible and innovative content tailored to diverse audiences.
This groundbreaking initiative positions Saudi Arabia’s media sector at the forefront of adopting and applying advanced digital technologies, further enhancing the Kingdom’s global influence in the field of digital media.
