Saudi Central Bank Partners with Google to Bring Google Pay to Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has entered into a strategic partnership with Google to bring its mobile payment service, Google Pay, to Saudi Arabia through the national payments network mada. The collaboration aims to provide an advanced and secure way for users to make purchases in stores, apps, and on the web, while also offering the option to add and manage cards within Google Wallet.

Set to launch in 2025, this initiative is part of SAMA’s efforts to expand its digital payment solutions in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The integration of Google Pay reflects the bank’s commitment to establishing a robust digital payments infrastructure, contributing to the country’s transformation into a less-cash-dependent society.

This move follows other digital financial advancements by SAMA, including the beta launch of STC Bank, the issuance of an e-wallet license to the start-up Barq, and the ongoing trail phase of the eSAMA portal.
