VEON has announced an agreement between Jazz, its digital operator in Pakistan, and Huawei to deploy solar power across 1,000 Jazz sites in the country. This initiative, powered by Huawei’s iSolar technology, will be completed in the coming months, supporting Jazz’s transition toward a sustainable telecom network infrastructure powered by green energy. The solarization of these sites will result in up to 96% reduction in energy costs where the technology is implemented.
The integration of sustainable energy solutions, including the iSolar project, is part of Jazz’s commitment to achieving a net-zero carbon target by 2050. Beyond the immediate environmental and operational benefits, the deployment of iSolar is expected to serve as a scalable model for future expansion, offering a replicable framework for widespread adoption.
As the project progresses throughout 2025, VEON and Huawei remain committed to continuously exploring and implementing innovative technologies that contribute to a low-carbon future, integrating sustainability into VEON’s digital landscape.
Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, stated, “We are dedicated to delivering an ideal experience for our customers while reducing our environmental footprint. The deployment of iSolar sites advances our sustainability journey, enabling us to provide reliable connectivity powered by renewable energy. This initiative is not just good for business but also good for the planet, contributing to responsible energy resource use in Pakistan.”
Phillip Gan, President of Huawei’s Middle East and Central Asia Region, added, “We are proud to partner with VEON and Jazz on the iSolar project, setting a new benchmark for green energy adoption in the telecom industry. This initiative further strengthens our long-term cooperation, supporting the telecommunications industry’s shift to a more sustainable digital transformation. We are excited to contribute to VEON and Jazz’s sustainability vision with this partnership.”
