Cashplus, a money transfer service in Morocco, has integrated Western Union’s money transfer services into its mobile app. This new feature allows customers to receive money directly into their Cashplus wallet and also send funds internationally through Western Union’s global network.
The service aims to make financial transactions more accessible for Moroccans both domestically and abroad. By digitizing money transfers, Cashplus provides an innovative solution that enables seamless international transfers directly to bank accounts or for cash withdrawals at any Western Union location worldwide.
Hazim Sebbata, CEO of Cashplus, emphasized the company’s mission to democratize access to digital financial services, making it easier for customers to manage their international transactions. He also highlighted the long-standing collaboration with Western Union, which has been ongoing for two decades.
Morocco has become one of the largest recipients of diaspora remittances in the MENA region. The World Bank’s Migration and Development Brief reported that Morocco is the second-largest recipient of remittances in the MENA region, following Egypt. In February 2024, Morocco’s remittances reached $11.4 billion, significantly contributing to the country’s economic growth.
