KIA Launches All-New Sonet Compact SUV in Sri Lanka, Setting New Benchmarks for the Market

KIA has made a strong return to Sri Lanka’s automotive scene with the launch of the all-new Sonet compact SUV, marking the first of 12 new SUV models set to be introduced in the Sri Lankan market. This move has generated excitement as the country resumes automobile imports, and the Sonet is expected to stir up even more enthusiasm among local consumers.

Rated as one of the best-in-class smart urban SUVs, the Kia Sonet sets new standards with over 30 first-in-class features, targeting a tech-savvy, aspirational, and socially connected generation. Designed from the ground up, the Sonet raises the bar in design, technology, dynamics, and safety, positioning it as Kia’s latest offering in the rapidly growing compact SUV segment.

The Sonet’s aggressive and modern design, coupled with its sporty, rebellious spirit, gives it a striking road presence. With its compact yet bold exterior, the Sonet stands out on the road, while the interior is designed to provide a driver-focused experience with an intuitive infotainment system and high-quality materials. Despite its compact size, the interior offers ample space for passengers, prioritizing comfort and convenience.

In terms of power, the Kia Sonet is equipped with a 1.0 T-GDi turbocharged gasoline direct injection engine, available with either a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission or Kia’s new six-speed Smartstream Semi-Auto transmission (iMT).

Kia has also prioritized safety in the Sonet, which is equipped with a host of features to ensure a safe and relaxing driving experience. These include six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), and brake assist. Additionally, the Sonet comes with front and rear parking sensors, projector fog lamps, a Highline tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), auto headlamps, and ISOFIX child-seat anchoring points.
