Starlink Set to Launch in Pakistan: PTA to Issue License Soon

Sources within the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) have informed ProPakistani that the next step in the process is the issuance of a license to Starlink. According to the PTA, it will take approximately six months for Starlink to become fully operational in Pakistan. The company plans to deliver direct internet services to Pakistani users through its Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.

Starlink is required to pay a licensing fee of $640,000 to the PTA, and the company has already submitted its application, including technical and financial plans, as confirmed by PTA officials.

Currently, the PTA is conducting an internal review of all aspects related to Starlink’s licensing. Following the review, the final decision will be made by the PTA chairman and its three members. Sources suggest that the license could be issued within the next few weeks.

Once the license is granted, Starlink will be able to begin accepting bookings from Pakistani customers for its internet services. Furthermore, the company will be allowed to install its equipment across the country. Starlink plans to set up two to three ground stations in Pakistan to support its operations.

This launch could provide internet connectivity to remote areas that are not served by traditional cable internet or cellular towers. Additionally, the pricing of Starlink’s services is expected to be more affordable in Pakistan than in the US and other developed countries.
