Jordan’s Telecom Sector Shows Strong Growth in Q4 2024, Reports TRA

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Jordan has released its statistical report for the fourth quarter of 2024, showcasing significant developments in the communications sector.

The report highlights that mobile broadband subscriptions reached 8.046 million by the end of Q4 2024, up from approximately 7.727 million in the same period of 2023, reflecting a growth rate of 4.1%. Of these subscriptions, 69% were prepaid, and 31% were postpaid. The report also reveals that 84% of the subscriptions were for both voice and data services, while 16% were data-only plans.

Mobile voice call volume totaled approximately 7.37 billion minutes, with 97% of these calls being domestic and 3% international. The text messaging sector also saw notable growth, with 576 million messages sent in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 122% increase compared to 260 million messages in Q1 2024.

Mobile phone penetration reached 69% of the total population by the end of Q4 2024, up from 67% in the same period of the previous year. The penetration rate for individuals aged 15 and above was 106%.

Mobile data usage also saw a significant rise, reaching 658 million gigabytes in Q4 2024, up from 580 million gigabytes in Q4 2023, reflecting a 13% growth. These figures highlight the ongoing expansion and digital adoption within Jordan’s telecom sector.
