Lenovo has introduced TruScale Device as a Service (DaaS) for Sustainability, a modular, subscription-based IT solution designed to help enterprises meet sustainability targets while modernizing their technology infrastructure. The service supports reducing carbon footprints, extending device lifecycles, and accelerating the shift to a circular economy—leveraging Lenovo’s 15+ years of asset recovery expertise and responsible retirement of over 1 million devices.
TruScale DaaS for Sustainability has enabled up to 35% reductions in device-related IT costs in some implementations, eliminating upfront capital expenditure and simplifying procurement. Research indicates 62% of organizations invest in sustainability for associated cost savings, underscoring the dual financial and environmental benefits Lenovo’s solution offers.
As part of Lenovo’s established TruScale DaaS platform—trusted globally to manage millions of devices—this sustainability-focused offering integrates devices, services, and financing into one scalable package. It provides measurable ROI within weeks by supporting circular IT strategies from day one.
John Stamer, Vice President and GM, Global Product Services at Lenovo, said, “TruScale DaaS for Sustainability reflects our vision for the future of IT: circular by default, intelligent by design, and accountable by outcome. It’s a smarter, more resilient way to deliver value across the enterprise.”
Key features powering sustainability include:
- Carbon Impact Portal: Real-time device-level insights aiding ESG reporting.
- Certified Refurbished Devices: Lower refresh costs and carbon footprint.
- CO₂ Offset Services: Lifecycle emissions compensation with verified climate action.
- Asset Recovery Services: Secure device decommissioning and residual value recovery.
McKinsey research suggests up to 60% reduction in end-user device emissions is achievable by extending device lifespans and reducing device quantity per user. Lenovo’s modular options support these strategies through refurbishment and emission offsets.
Coventry University Group exemplifies the impact, having replaced its aging IT estate with Lenovo TruScale DaaS. The university offset 223 tons of CO₂ via Lenovo’s CO₂ Offset Services, saved 40 IT labor hours weekly, and improved device delivery and service across its global faculty network.
Ian Dunn, Provost at Coventry University Group, said, “Lenovo TruScale gives us the scalability and flexibility to efficiently manage technology and achieve our carbon reduction goals. It has freed our teams to focus on delivering outstanding student experiences.”
