Ooredoo Qatar Delivers High-Capacity Connectivity for Major Events Hosting Over 1.5 Million Attendees

Ooredoo Qatar has successfully delivered uninterrupted, high-performance connectivity across a series of major international sporting championships and conferences hosted in the country in 2025, supporting events that attracted more than 1.5 million spectators and delegates.

According to the company, its network handled more than 300 terabytes of mobile data traffic and over six million voice calls during the events, while maintaining a 99.99 percent call setup success rate. Peak periods saw significant surges in demand, with 5G services accounting for more than 60 percent of total data traffic and Voice over LTE usage exceeding 95 percent, ensuring high-quality and reliable voice communications.

Despite operating in densely populated venues and transport corridors, Ooredoo’s infrastructure sustained consistent speeds, ultra-low latency, and near-zero service disruption. Attendees were able to upload high-definition content, stream live coverage, and stay connected throughout peak moments.

To meet the extraordinary demand, Ooredoo deployed advanced network technologies across event sites, including extensive 5G and 5G+ coverage supported by Massive MIMO, carrier aggregation, smart pole deployments, enhanced uplink MIMO, and beamforming. These capabilities were further supported by AI-driven, real-time network optimisation and traffic balancing.

Ooredoo also established dedicated event operations centres staffed by more than 200 specialised personnel to provide continuous monitoring and rapid response, ensuring a seamless digital experience for visitors, media, and organisers throughout all events.
