The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, has announced the creation of a Cyber Operations and Defense Emulation Lab. This initiative is a core component of the “Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan” project, designed to fortify the nation’s digital borders against increasingly sophisticated global hacking attempts. The facility will provide a controlled environment where public, private, and defense organizations can simulate advanced cyberattacks to test their internal response systems and refine defensive strategies.
According to project documentation, the lab will involve the installation of specialized hardware and software capable of emulating real-world threat scenarios. The procurement process is being managed through a transparent electronic bidding platform to ensure competitive evaluation and high-standard implementation. This development marks a significant step in Pakistan’s broader digital vision, aiming to stay ahead of evolving risks as the country’s reliance on digital infrastructure grows.
