Ufone flags service disruptions as power outages impact network performance

Ufone has reported service disruptions across parts of Pakistan as intensifying power outages continue to affect telecom network operations.

The operator highlighted that prolonged electricity shortages are impacting cell sites and network infrastructure, leading to degraded service quality, including call drops and slower data speeds. Telecom networks rely heavily on consistent power supply, and extended outages are placing additional strain on backup systems such as generators and batteries.

The situation underscores the operational challenges faced by telecom providers in markets with unstable power infrastructure. Maintaining network uptime becomes increasingly complex as operators are forced to manage rising fuel costs, equipment limitations, and logistical constraints associated with backup power solutions.

Ufone’s update comes amid broader concerns within the industry about the impact of energy shortages on service continuity, particularly as demand for mobile and data services continues to grow.

The disruptions also highlight the interdependence between energy and telecom infrastructure, where reliability in one directly affects the performance of the other.

Editor’s Note:
Power instability remains a critical bottleneck for telecom performance in Pakistan. As data demand rises, energy resilience is becoming as important as network investment in sustaining service quality.
