Kazakhstan Surpasses Japan in Mobile Internet Speed, According to Speedtest Global Index

Kazakhstan has edged ahead of Japan in mobile internet speed, securing the 57th position globally, compared to Japan’s 58th, according to the Speedtest Global Index for December 2024. Kazakhstan’s median download speed stood at 53.76 megabits per second (Mbps), while Japan’s was 53.54 Mbps.

In terms of fixed broadband speed, Kazakhstan ranked 88th globally. The top three countries for median download speed were the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait.

Regarding city rankings, Kazakhstan’s Almaty secured 63rd place, while the capital, Astana, ranked 71st out of 160 cities globally.

The Speedtest Global Index compares mobile and fixed broadband speeds worldwide, offering valuable insights into internet performance across different regions.
