The Sri Lanka Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Summit 2025, launched by the Ministry of Digital Economy in partnership with UNDP Sri Lanka, ADB, and other key stakeholders, kicked off in Colombo on February 5-6, 2025. The Summit highlights the role of DPI in driving economic growth and digital inclusion.
The event, which brings together global leaders, experts, and innovators, emphasizes the importance of public-private partnerships and cross-sector collaboration in implementing scalable DPI solutions. It aims to foster dialogue on how DPI can accelerate Sri Lanka’s digital economy and support the country’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Hon. Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, emphasized the government’s ambition to reach a $15 billion digital economy by 2030. He also highlighted the fundamental role of DPI as the backbone for digital transformation. Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy, echoed these sentiments, noting the government’s commitment to driving digital transformation through the establishment and adoption of DPIs.
The summit also spotlighted the ‘Transforming Local Administrative Data Collection Systems for SDG Acceleration in Sri Lanka’ project, a collaborative initiative between the government, UNDP Sri Lanka, WHO, and the UN SDG Fund, which showcases how DPI can enhance service delivery, economic efficiency, and citizen empowerment.
The event included panel discussions, workshops, and interactive sessions on various DPI applications in sectors like tax, transport, tourism, and civil registration. Over 350 delegates attended, with the goal of fostering collaboration, generating actionable insights, and advancing Sri Lanka’s digital transformation journey.
