WorldLink Communications, Nepal’s largest internet service provider, has launched a new 3.5MW data center in Chandragiri, Kathmandu. Located near the Mata Tirtha substation, owned by Nepal Electricity Authority, the facility hosts 520 racks and ensures a continuous power supply due to its proximity to the substation.
The carrier-neutral data center is designed to enhance communication services, with a focus on cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. This expansion is part of WorldLink’s broader vision to improve internet infrastructure in Nepal and support advanced technological services.
WorldLink, which has been operating since 1995, previously announced plans to build 14 data centers across Nepal by 2024. In addition to this facility, there are other notable developments in the country’s data center sector, including efforts from Indian operator Yotta, Nepal’s BLC, Ncell, and Nepal Telecom.
