Minister Kamel Al-Wazir Inspects Key Factories in Egypt’s Industrial Zones

Kamel Al-Wazir, Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, recently conducted an inspection tour across key factories in the industrial zones of 10th of Ramadan and Badr cities. The tour highlighted the growth of Egypt’s industrial sector, showcasing investments in various manufacturing facilities.

The first stop was the Elsewedy Telecom Cables Factory in 10th of Ramadan City, which spans 70,000 square meters and specializes in the production of fiber optic cables, copper communication cables, and telecommunications accessories. The factory, with a total investment of EGP 2 billion, has a production capacity of 4 million kilometers of fiber optic cables and 200,000 kilometers of copper cables, with 50% of its output earmarked for export. Al-Wazir praised the facility’s adherence to quality standards and its National Accreditation Council’s certification, which facilitates global exports.

Next, Al-Wazir visited Utopia Pharmaceuticals, which operates on an investment of EGP 1.1 billion and produces heart and blood pressure medications. Located in 10th of Ramadan City, the factory focuses on reducing imports by relying on 90% local components. Utopia Pharmaceuticals also exports 15% of its output, contributing to Egypt’s pharmaceutical industry growth.

The final stop was the Schneider Electric factory in Badr City, specializing in electrical panels. With an investment in excess of 8 million euros to expand production capacity, the factory employs 650 workers and exports to over 35 countries. The facility boasts a local content ratio of 81%, producing a range of medium- and low-voltage units and busways.

Al-Wazir’s inspection tour underscored Egypt’s continued focus on developing its industrial base, strengthening local production, and expanding its export capabilities. The minister also highlighted the critical role these investments play in boosting local employment and economic development.
