Ncell Joins ISPAN, Marking First Telecom Entry into Internet Service Providers Association of Nepal

Ncell, a leading telecom operator in Nepal, has joined the Internet Service Providers Association of Nepal (ISPAN), making it the first telecom company to become part of the group, which has historically consisted only of Internet Service Providers (ISPs). This move is seen as a significant step as ISPAN works to promote and develop internet services across Nepal.

Ncell’s entry into ISPAN was announced at the association’s upcoming general meeting. While ISPAN traditionally serves the interests of ISPs, Ncell’s involvement aligns with its broader interest in starting an ISP business, with previous rumors suggesting the company’s potential acquisition of Classic Tech. By joining ISPAN, Ncell aims to better address industry concerns and advocate more effectively for its goals, especially as it moves towards expanding its services beyond traditional telecom offerings.

Additionally, CG Communication (CG Net) has also joined ISPAN, further strengthening the group. It’s important to note that Ncell’s membership will be as a Network Service Provider (NSP), not as a telecom operator, which makes sense given the company’s aspirations to enter the ISP market.

The inclusion of Ncell and CG Communication will bolster ISPAN’s influence, making it a larger and more powerful body representing the interests of Nepal’s growing telecom and internet services market. Ncell, which holds a 49% market share in Nepal’s telecommunications sector, now joins other service providers like WorldLink and Vianet in advocating for a stronger digital ecosystem in the country.
