DHL Express has opened a new facility at Muscat International Airport, Oman, marking a significant investment of over US$30.81 million. Spanning 12,621 sqm, the state-of-the-art facility features an advanced import/export gateway with X-ray screening technology, storage warehouses, and a smart two-way conveyor system.
The new facility includes a ground operations hub, an import/export gateway, and a regional office. It is designed to handle approximately 2,400 shipments per hour and serve over 4,200 customers. The facility also features a smart sorting system capable of dispatching up to 3,000 shipments per hour to 60 destinations simultaneously.
Abdulaziz Busbate, CEO of DHL Express MENA, highlighted the strategic importance of this new facility, emphasizing its role in expanding DHL’s infrastructure and providing innovative logistics solutions to empower businesses across regional and global markets. The facility is designed to meet TAPA freight security standards, with 145 high-tech CCTV units ensuring the safety and security of operations.
In line with its sustainability goals, DHL Express has integrated solar panels, LED lighting, and advanced climate control systems to reduce its environmental impact. This new facility is a key logistics hub for DHL Express, strengthening the company’s presence in Oman while demonstrating its commitment to environmental responsibility and Net Zero emissions by 2050.
