Saudi Telecom Company (stc) has partnered with Juniper Networks to expand its 5G services across 75 cities and regions in Saudi Arabia. By integrating Juniper’s 400G PTX10008 Packet Transport Routers into its Converged Supercore network and key data centers, stc is enhancing network capacity, performance, and energy efficiency while supporting its digital transformation strategy.
The company sought to enhance the capacity of its core network and data centers to accommodate growing mobile, broadband, residential, and business service demands. A priority was to adopt energy-efficient technology, leading to the deployment of Juniper’s routing solution that optimizes power consumption and space usage.
Juniper’s PTX10008 routers provide 115.2 Tbps of capacity within a compact footprint and are ready for future 800G scaling. This upgrade results in a 1,340% increase in 100G capacity and an 864-port increase in 400G capacity per rack space, while cutting power consumption by 43% thanks to advanced silicon innovation.
Furthermore, stc’s data centers have been modernized with Juniper’s MX10008 Universal Routers, offering 76.8 Tbps capacity and a 384-port boost in 400G capacity per site. This solution has reduced physical space needs by 90% and decreased power consumption per gigabit by 87% compared to previous network designs.
The integration of Juniper’s PTX and MX routers is also accelerating stc’s automation efforts, simplifying network management and improving operational efficiency using advanced services like gRPC, OpenConfig, and NETCONF/Yang.
