Egypt’s Government Pushes Forward on Digital Transformation Goals, Focusing on Automation and E-Services

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired a meeting on Sunday to review Egypt’s progress on its national digital transformation objectives. The meeting emphasized the government’s commitment to improving citizen access to government services through electronic means, with a particular focus on automating company establishment and licensing processes.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, provided an update on the Egypt Digital platform, which has made significant strides in offering exclusive online services, such as traffic violation inquiries. Plans to digitize other in-person services, such as notarization, are also underway. Talaat confirmed that the government is working to improve digital infrastructure to ensure service continuity.

Madbouly stressed the importance of achieving full digitization, calling for a detailed plan with specific timelines for the implementation of these services. He also highlighted the importance of monitoring the implementation of the Unified Services Card in Port Said, which will provide access to a variety of social services, including health insurance, supply subsidies, and social protection, all through a digital platform.

The government is also collaborating with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to streamline company establishment processes, aiming for full automation of business services. These efforts are part of Egypt’s broader objective to enhance the digital infrastructure and support economic growth through improved service delivery.
